Job Posting Title District Police, Patrol Officer Close Date June 7, 2026 Job Description Summary To provide safety and security to the students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property at Austin Community College campuses. Responsibilities Perform all duties of a licensed police officer within the college environment and coordinate with other officers. Write and file daily logs, incident reports, issue parking permits and citations. Provide faculty, staff, students, and visitors with information and directions. Open and secure buildings and classrooms. Maintain departmental equipment and monitor college inventory during routine patrols. Testify on behalf of the college in all necessary court proceedings. Act as a lead officer in orienting, training, or assisting other officers when required. Inform and collaborate with campus managers on all issues related to campus safety and security and address identified needs and concerns. Knowledge Texas Penal Code, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Texas Family Code, Texas Education Code, Texas Motor Vehicle Code, TCIC/NCIC requirements. Current principles and practices related to safety and security. Investigative and interrogative procedures, techniques, and protocols for observation and memorization of critical details. Hazardous chemicals and materials, first aid, and CPR. Skills Maintain an established work schedule, including evenings, weekends, after‑hours, and holidays. Respond to emergencies and maintain confidentiality of work‑related information and materials. Use interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy. Organize and plan effectively. Operate firearms and impact weapons safely. Interact with people from diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Prepare narrative and statistical reports and records. Interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Communicate with violators and mediate difficult situations. Operate motor vehicles during emergency, high‑risk situations. Follow and communicate verbal and written instructions. Maintain effective working relationships. Use spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software. Required Work Experience No work experience is required. Required Education High school diploma or educational equivalent and successful completion of an Accredited Law Enforcement Agency Program. Preferred Education Thirty college credit hours. Special Requirements Texas Peace Officer License and Valid Texas Driver’s License. Must meet all Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education requirements for employment as a patrol officer. Ability to successfully complete criminal background check, drug screen, and psychological and physical examinations prior to employment. Past supervisors may be interviewed for a reference. Physical Requirements Work is performed in various environments subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and climbing. Required to restrain persons and may need to feel for objects (texture, size, shape). Occasional lifting of objects up to 80 pounds. Must perceive sounds at normal speaking levels and receive detailed oral communication, including yelling over noise and distance. Subject to physical harm from weapons and attacks. May be exposed to a variety of temperatures, noise, moving mechanical parts, communicable diseases, or chemicals. Requires specific vision abilities such as close vision, depth perception, distance vision, color vision, and ability to focus. Must work safely and follow safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and take reasonable actions to prevent unsafe practices. Salary Range PG 121: $57,773 – $72,216 Clery Act Employees are required to report violations under TitleIX and the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act. If this position is identified as a Campus Security Authority, the officer will be notified, trained, and provided resources for reporting. A Clery Act Annual Security Report is produced annually. Benefits Full‑time faculty and staff employees are eligible for medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, retirement plans, and AD&D. ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan required by federal law.
