About the Role Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a provider of cutting‑edge cloud‑based integration, automated testing, and data analysis for complex, mission‑critical systems, is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to join our Advanced Capabilities team. The engineer will design, configure, maintain, and secure IT systems at IDT offices and customer sites in Arlington, VA, and will build and automate infrastructure processes to improve efficiency and meet security standards. Details Department: Engineering Employment Type: Full Time Location: Arlington, VA Compensation: $90,000 – $184,000 per year. Clearance & Location Requirements Must have an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. On‑site position; at least 5 days per week in the Arlington office. What You Will Do Rack and install server/network devices within standard racks and pelican enclosures. Perform regular server updates, patch management, and software installations. Operate and maintain virtual and physical servers, including Red Hat, Windows, and VMWare. Install and provision new hardware equipment. Implement, maintain, and review security processes to ensure compliance and proper user permissions. Develop and maintain golden images for OS and virtual machines. Maintain detailed documentation of systems and networks for technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Requirements / Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience. 3+ years of experience in systems administration or engineering. Ability to travel up to 25% of time. Experience in VMWare or similar virtualization. Experience troubleshooting network issues of varying complexity. Experience scripting with Bash, C, or Python. Understanding of TCP/IP concepts including TCP, UDP, VLAN, DHCP, and routing. Experience provisioning and installing physical and virtual devices. Security+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification. Experience hardening devices and following DISA STIG checklists. Experience patching and remediating vulnerabilities in a closed network. What Makes You Stand Out Strong understanding of Red Hat or similar Linux distributions. Experience with tactical networking. Experience with Cisco switching: Virtual Port Channeling, VLANs, VRFs. Experience configuring multiple authentication methods including PKI. Ability to evaluate hardware/software purchases for various use‑cases. Experience with Ruckus network devices (plus). Experience with VMWare NSX‑T (plus). Experience with configuration automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Chef, Salt, Puppet. Pay Range Pay Range: $90,000 – $150,000 or $114,000 – $184,000, depending on experience. Actual pay is based on candidate skills and education; benefits are not included.
