Job Title: IT Project Manager
Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Position Overview


The IT Project Manager II serves as the primary IT liaison for implementing IT projects and supporting IT activities within larger City initiatives. The role collaborates closely with Business Relationship Managers (BRMs), stakeholders, vendors, technical teams, and business users to ensure the successful delivery and implementation of IT solutions.


This position is responsible for project planning, communication, implementation oversight, risk mitigation, stakeholder management, and customer service excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery

• Manage IT project deliverables from solution transition through release and implementation
• Define project charter, scope, goals, timelines, and deliverables
• Create and maintain project plans and schedules
• Track milestones, risks, changes, and implementation activities
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope

Stakeholder & Communication Management

• Serve as the primary communication channel between business and IT teams
• Facilitate communication among sponsors, consumers, vendors, technical staff, and IT personnel
• Communicate project status, risks, issues, and progress clearly to leadership and stakeholders
• Build collaborative and trusted relationships with customers and project teams

Team Coordination & Leadership

• Coordinate project resources and assignments
• Motivate and facilitate cross-functional project teams
• Promote accountability for project delivery
• Oversee work quality, scheduling, training, and task coordination

Change Management & Customer Service

• Act as a change agent to improve IT customer service
• Resolve problems independently and manage multiple priorities
• Ensure a successful transition from solution development to implementation

Testing & Operational Support

• Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Track project tickets and implementation tasks
• Identify resource needs and escalate timeline or quality issues appropriately
• Support organizational planning and IT strategy initiatives

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a related field

Education/Experience Equivalency

• Relevant work experience may substitute for education
• Additional academic coursework may substitute for professional experience
