IT Support Specialist | Location: Augusta, ME | Contract

Our client in Augusta, ME is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join their team in a hybrid remote capacity. This role involves providing desktop support, coordinating hardware and software upgrades, and assisting with network troubleshooting within a dynamic IT environment supporting various business functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in testing changes, upgrades, and new software products to ensure seamless operation within the current and future environment.
• Make recommendations for functional and technical improvements to optimize system performance.
• Participate in performance and volume analysis, contributing to performance improvement initiatives.
• Identify and implement potential enhancements related to the environment for various applications.
• Provide accurate and timely answers to general environment and user support questions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for technology support and service requests.
• Act as the liaison between business functions and technology requirements, facilitating communication and coordination.
• Provide desktop computer support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Coordinate the procurement, installation, and configuration of new computer hardware and software.
• Manage virus protection software deployment and updates across departments.
• Install, configure, and maintain software patches, upgrades, and system updates.
• Document technical procedures, system changes, and support activities for future reference.
• Ensure reliable backups are performed and maintained according to standards.
• Proactively address customer needs and communicate status updates effectively.
• Investigate user-reported problems, identify their sources, and implement tested solutions.
• Troubleshoot network issues, systems, and applications to resolve malfunctions.
• Develop and deliver training sessions for system users to enhance technical proficiency.
• Evaluate utilization patterns and their impact on system performance and availability.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience with Windows Operating Systems
• Desktop support experience
• Customer service skills
• Strong documentation skills
• Troubleshooting expertise

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with network troubleshooting
• Ability to assist in hardware and software procurement processes
• Knowledge of virus protection software management
• Experience in developing user training materials
