Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry / Orthopedic Trauma – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), weekend rotation (1 in 3) and holidays as needed. Four 12-hour shifts per week available for interested candidates. Patient ratio 1:4. 36 hours of orientation provided.

Highlights:

• Primary patient population: Orthopedic Trauma (frequently includes Neurosurgery overflow)
• 27-bed unit with adult patient population in a Magnet-designated academic medical center
• Epic charting system with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
• Telemetry monitoring on the unit; management of complex cases including heparin drips, insulin drips, peripheral nerve catheters, epidurals, and PCAs
• Comprehensive skills utilization including central lines, chest tubes, wound vacs, tracheostomy care, and blood product administration
• Floating to other units as needed; candidates must reside 50+ miles from facility

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license (or compact state license with ability to obtain Wisconsin licensure)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience within the last 3 years
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only) required
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Must successfully pass telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria (80% overall score, 100% identification of lethal rhythms, no errors on 3rd degree heart block questions)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and previous charge experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience and proficiency in orthopedic trauma patient care strongly preferred
