Radiology Clerical Assistant (Per Diem)

Radiologic Clerical Assistant
The Radiologic Clerical Assistant provides clerical and administrative support to the Radiology Department. This position supports daily departmental operations, patient scheduling, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow. The role requires familiarity with medical terminology related to diagnostic imaging and supports radiologic technologists, radiologists, providers, and patients while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
Essential duties include answering phones promptly and professionally; triaging calls as appropriate; working in conjunction with Central Scheduler to schedule imaging exams based on provider orders, urgency, and departmental protocols; confirming insurance eligibility and required authorizations prior to entering order/charge; ensuring imaging orders include required clinical information and diagnoses; maintaining accurate patient records within the EHR/RIS; maintaining mammography tracking logs and follow-up documentation in compliance with MQSA; coordinating outside imaging studies and reports; supporting radiologic technologists and assisting patients as needed; monitoring and maintaining monthly department supply inventory; and communicating effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and external facilities. All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications include BLS Certification within 3 months of hire and medical terminology. Education preferred includes a high school diploma and medical assistant certification. Minimum experience required includes previous medical office or healthcare-related experience. Experience preferred includes 1 year experience in a clinical setting, prior healthcare or radiology clerical experience, and familiarity with HER, RIS or PACS systems. Skills include time management, organization, attention to detail, quality focus, professionalism, productivity, patient service, medical teamwork, telephone skills, customer focus, and supply management.
