Human Resources ManagerWe are seeking an experienced, practical and highly organized Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function for The Tamaroff Group, an established automotive dealership group with two Metro Detroit locations and approximately 225 full-time employees. This is a visible, hands-on leadership role responsible for the full employee lifecycle and for serving as the primary HR partner to employees and dealership leadership. The ideal candidate has strong judgment, is comfortable handling difficult employee matters and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The HR Manager will work closely with a dedicated Payroll Specialist who processes payroll and handles payroll-related accounting. The HR Manager is responsible for ensuring employee and compensation changes are properly authorized, documented and communicated but is not the primary payroll processor.What You'll DoLead recruiting, hiring, onboarding and offboarding across both locationsServe as the primary HR resource for employees and managersConduct objective, well-documented workplace investigationsGuide managers through performance issues, disciplinary actions, attendance concerns and terminationsCoach managers on communication, documentation and consistent application of company policiesAdminister benefits, leaves of absence, workplace accommodations and workers' compensation mattersMaintain compliance with federal, Michigan and local employment lawsMaintain employee records, HR systems, policies and the employee handbookOversee performance management, training and employee-development initiativesMonitor recruiting, turnover and other workforce trends and recommend improvementsContinuously improve HR processes, systems and the overall employee experienceCoordinate with the Payroll Specialist to ensure employee and compensation changes are accurate, documented and properly communicatedQualifications & ExperienceFive or more years of progressive HR experience, including substantial responsibility for employee relations, investigations, recruiting and compliancePrior experience as an HR Manager, senior HR Generalist or similar hands-on HR leaderWorking knowledge of federal and Michigan employment lawsExperience supporting hourly, salaried, commissioned and variable-compensation employeesAutomotive dealership, retail, hospitality or other multi-location service-business experience strongly preferredExperience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferredBachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field preferredSHRM or HRCI certification preferred but not requiredSkillsSound judgment and the ability to handle sensitive employee matters appropriatelyStrong organization, time management and attention to detailAbility to balance competing priorities and respond effectively to time-sensitive mattersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsComfort conducting investigations and having difficult conversationsPractical, responsive and solutions-oriented approachAbility to build credibility with employees and senior leadershipStrong follow-through and personal accountabilityAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretionWillingness to work regularly at both Metro Detroit locationsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary and annual performance bonus commensurate with experience and qualificationsComprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)Paid time off, holidays and employee recognition programsAbout the CompanyThe Tamaroff Group has been a respected name in the Metro Detroit automotive industry for more than 50 years.
