Switchboard Operator

Switchboard OperatorThe Switchboard Operator facilitates all telecommunications within the hospital. Receives and directs incoming calls to the appropriate party in a timely manner.Responsibilities:Routes all incoming calls to specified areas in a professional manner.Provides appropriate information to callers.Performs overhead paging.Provides paging services.Assigns pagers upon request.Initiates the response for all code situations.Monitors and operates multiple alarm systems.Assists with the edits to the on-call physician schedule.Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times.Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required, any higher education from an accredited college will supersede this requirement.Licensure/Certification: None.Experience: At least one year of experience in a hospital environment preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Clear speaking voice.Ability to speak, read, write and communicate effectively in English.Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.
