Details Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a 34-bed hospital Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM Patient ratios of 1:6 to 1:7 depending on staffing needs Required to work every other weekend PRN low census on-call requirement Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities Uses Epic EMR system Requirements Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start BLS certification required ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred Epic EMR experience required Skills in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Insulin administration, and Rapid Response required Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management required Experience with oral suctioning, oxygen tanks, and tracheostomy care preferred Colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management skills required Heparin and PCA medication administration experience required Wound care and wound vac management skills required Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry remote monitoring experience required Renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management experience preferred Surgical drain management and total joint replacement experience preferred SSN and driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including IV therapy, wound care, and cardiac monitoring Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed Royal blue scrub color required Free parking available onsite Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as locals are not accepted Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least one year before returning as a traveler All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration for review and approval based on facility needs First-time travelers are welcome to apply Block scheduling requests may be considered but are not guaranteed During hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams American Traveler Job ID P-747018.
