Journeyman Program ManagerWork Location: Hanscom AFB, MASalary Range: $115-$130,000 annually* depending on experience, certifications, and qualificationsJob Status: Full-time; salariedSecurity Clearance: MUST have an active US Secret clearanceAstrion has an exciting opportunity for a Journeyman Program Manager providing support to the Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS Division, which is located at Hanscom AFB, MA.The AWACS Division, has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility to deliver airborne Battle Management Command & Control (BMC2) capabilities that support joint, allied, coalition, humanitarian, and homeland defense operations. Modernization efforts enable continued involvement with worldwide operations by revitalizing legacy mission systems, replacing aging computer architectures, integrating multi-sensor data fusion, and improving global expeditionary readiness and availability.Required Qualifications/Skills:Clearance: Must currently hold and be able to maintain an active Secret Clearance.Citizenship: Must be a US citizenPreferred Qualifications/Skills:Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 5 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 3 of which must be in the DoDOR 8 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoDPrevious work with Simulators or trainers is highly preferredTechnical Skills:Provide program management support focused on cost, schedule, and performance for the E-7 platformTrack, analyze, and brief program metrics within established guidelinesApply DoD acquisition processes and program documentation standards relevant to AWACS modernizationUse Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, scheduling, documentation, and communicationIdentify risks, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions across technical and programmatic areasInterpersonal Skills:Communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats with government and contractor teamsCollaborate effectively with cross-functional, geographically dispersed stakeholders supporting AWACS programsWork independently as a self-starter while following established PM processes and guidelinesDemonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and critical thinking when navigating evolving program needsMaintain professionalism and build strong working relationships within the AWACS enterpriseContribute positively to team dynamics, ensuring coordination across multiple major defense contractor partnersResponsibilities:Duties include, but not limited to:Program & Acquisition Management:Provide program-level acquisition support to the Program Manager (PM) and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads to ensure disciplined execution, acquisition battle rhythm, and delivery of warfighter capabilityAdvise program leadership on overall program health and options to maintain cost, schedule, and performance objectivesInterpret, coordinate, and execute acquisition project assignments; identify and resolve issues with significant impact to acquisition and sustainment effortsCompare program direction and plans for alignment and consistency across stakeholdersMonitor and assess program integration plans and interface control between systemsAcquisition Strategy & Policy Compliance:Assist with planning, evaluating, and implementing acquisition strategies, including traditional, Middle Tier of Acquisition (MTA), and Urgent Capability pathwaysProvide non-technical acquisition expertise and guidance in accordance with DoD and Air Force acquisition policies, directives, and instructionsIdentify and resolve policy disconnects; provide policy interpretation and recommendations to program leadershipTrack acquisition reform initiatives and recommend updates to programs impacted by policy changesContracting, RFP & Source Selection Support:Provide program management inputs to RFPs, including system requirements, SOWs, SRDs, CDRLs, and evaluation criteriaAssist with development of source selection strategies and provide administrative and evaluation supportReview and track prime contractor deliverables, schedules, and contractual performanceAssist with drafting contractual correspondence related to program management issuesProgram Reporting & Senior Leadership Briefings:Develop, prepare, and review acquisition reports and statutory documentation in support of milestone decisions and program oversightSupport preparation of senior-level briefings, graphics, schedules, and program status updatesMaintain recurring program documentation such as MARs, APBs, DAES inputs, SARs, and supplemental acquisition reportsUtilize DoD-mandated and specialized systems to support reporting, documentation, and executionRisk, Schedule & Performance Management:Develop, maintain, and execute program risk management plans; facilitate risk identification, analysis, handling, and monitoringSupport risk management boards and working groups; document outcomes and action itemsAnalyze contractor and subcontractor risk management processesCoordinate with program scheduling personnel and correlate EVM cost performance data with Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) CDRLsFinancial & Funding Support:Provide direct support for preparation and submission of funding documents, including purchase requests, MIPRs, and obligation/spend plansSupport cost and schedule reduction initiatives across acquisition and development effortsEvaluate funding realism and cost impacts in support of acquisition strategies and execution decisionsAdvisory & Leadership Support:Provide expert acquisition and program management guidance to division chiefs and program/project managersAdvise PMs on best-practice program management principles to improve processes, increase efficiency, and achieve cost avoidanceSupport life-cycle logistics considerations and operational supportability planning.
