Patient Service Rep (Float)

SUMMARY The Patient Service Representative reports to the Practice Manager and oversees the financial processes related to patient services. The role includes greeting patients, performing registration and check-in, answering phones, scheduling appointments, obtaining referrals and authorizations, processing forms, and managing the discharge process. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee patient financial process to ensure payments are obtained at time of service and properly processed. Verify that all necessary information is complete and accurate: demographics, referrals, authorizations, billing codes, diagnoses, etc. Complete end‑of‑day batch, including reconciliation of arrived patient schedule and time‑of‑service payments within established timeframe. Provide clerical support for the practice. Orient and serve as a resource to new employees regarding department policies and procedures. Maintain quality, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with department policies. Protect and preserve the patient’s right to privacy and confidentiality. Travel to satellite offices as required. Perform other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a two‑year Medical Office Management/Medical Secretary program or equivalent experience. Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care to patients across the life span with sensitivity to aging, human development, and cultural patterns. Two years of experience in a physician’s medical office practice. Proficient in English and computer appointment scheduling. Familiarity with medical office procedures and medical terminology. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work in a healthcare environment, such as a physician’s medical office practice and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Use medical office equipment and have direct patient contact. Follow safety procedures and precautions, including use of safety equipment and protective clothing. Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day, may be exposed to electrical and energy hazards, may lift and position patients or supplies up to 50 pounds.

PAY RANGE $18.13–$29.90
