Software Development Manager, ENA Express Team

Salary: $212,700 - 287,700 per year Requirements:

• We bring 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• We have knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software, hardware, and networking development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
• We bring 3+ years of development experience in C, C++, or Rust.
• We have 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience with continued active programming proficiency.
• We have practical experience with network packet processing and embedded environments, including NIC development.
• Preferred: we can communicate effectively with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, explain product features, describe technical designs, and shape product strategy.
• Preferred: we have experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams to improve effectiveness and technical growth.

• We lead a team designing and building features across the AWS Networking software stack on Nitro Cards.
• We work deeply on ENA Express, the SRD protocol, and L3/L4 networking to improve packet delivery, reduce tail latency, and increase bandwidth utilization.
• We collaborate with hardware and firmware partners to define software and hardware interfaces and expose programmable capabilities to the software layer.
• We partner with EC2 platform and service teams to integrate ENA Express features into the wider AWS networking ecosystem.
• We mentor junior and mid-level engineers, run design reviews, and promote strong engineering practices across the team.
• We drive operational excellence by building observability, contributing to on-call health, and leading incident response and post-mortems.
