Location: Pomona, CA

Job Summary

The OS&D Clerk plays a critical role in our freight consolidation operations by ensuring all inbound and outbound shipments are accurately verified, discrepancies are promptly identified and documented, and Over, Short, and Damaged (OS&D) issues are resolved efficiently. This position supports the smooth consolidation of multiple shipments into full truckload or optimized loads while maintaining high standards of accuracy, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform detailed verification of incoming and outgoing freight against manifests, bills of lading, and packing lists during the consolidation process.
2. Identify, document, and report Over, Short, and Damaged (OS&D) shipments in accordance with company procedures and carrier guidelines.
3. Investigate OS&D claims by coordinating with warehouse teams, drivers, customers, and carriers to gather supporting documentation and photos.
4. Process OS&D reports in the transportation management system (TMS) and maintain accurate records for claims resolution.
5. Assist in consolidating shipments by verifying piece counts, weights, and product integrity before loading into consolidated trailers.
6. Collaborate with dock supervisors and loaders to ensure proper segregation and labeling of OS&D freight.
7. Monitor aging OS&D inventory and coordinate timely disposition (return, repair, salvage, or disposal).
8. Support cycle counts and inventory reconciliation for consolidated freight.
9. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external customers regarding shipment status and resolution updates.
10. Ensure compliance with all safety, security, and hazardous materials handling regulations.
11. Generate daily/weekly OS&D reports and performance metrics for management review.

Potential Qualifications

1. 1–3 years of experience in freight operations, warehousing, or OS&D/claims processing.
2. Strong working knowledge of LTL, truckload, and freight consolidation processes.
3. Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Google Workspace.
5. Ability to read and interpret bills of lading, shipping manifests, and freight documentation.
6. Forklift certification is a plus.
