The Automation Engineer applies knowledge of engineering to design, implement, and support products such as instruments, controls, and machines for the purpose of production, engineering, and project management support. They will purchase, integrate, and improve hardware and software for custom applications. Other duties include leading the fabrication, installation, application, and technical support of such products.Roles & ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly, machining and inspection processesDevelops and executes high level and detailed project plans, including managing schedules and budgetsCompletes and understands all quality requirements for projectsManages project scope and performs risk assessmentsIdentify opportunities for automation within software processesIdentify bugs and quality issues in development, service or business processesMust work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlinesMust be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the jobPerforms other duties as assignedBasic QualificationsA bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field is required. Education may be substituted with equivalent industry experience in aerospace, marine, or transportation industrial manufacturingDemonstrated leadership capabilitiesExperience with SAP ERP software is advantageousExperience with CATIA and NX or equivalent CAD software is advantageousExperience working with PLCs, drives, embedded computing, electronics, or software development is advantageousExperience working with metal machining, fabrication, or 3-D printing is advantageousProficiency with Microsoft Office software is requiredMust be willing and able to obtain a government issued security clearance.Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GEDMust have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English languageDue to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).Detailed Wage InformationWage range for this role is between $83,000 - $135,000 annually, plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki's estimate of the base compensation for this role.
