Specialty: Med Surg. Number of Openings: 1. Shift: Nights, 1900-0730. Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 must be indicated on submission form. Assignment Length: 13 weeks. All contingency requests must be on the submission form. Weekend Hours: As required by facility/every other weekend. Call Requirements: None. Required Licensure: Current RN License (meets the criteria to be eligible for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently licensed in the state of Missouri). Required Certifications: BLS from AHA only. Preferred Certifications: ACLS from AHA only. Years of Experience: 1 year. Med Surg Float Requirements: May be floated to other units depending on staffing needs.

Unit Information:

Number of Beds: 15 currently; 15 beds under construction. Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 on days 1:6-7 on nights. We do not guarantee ratios. Careful consideration is given depending on the circumstance. Equipment: Nova Meters for Blood glucose, Alaris IV pump, Kangaroo pumps, SCD machine. EMR: EPIC.

Must Have Skills/Experience: 1 year Med Surg, inpatient only. Preferred Skillset/Experience: Type of Patients on Unit: Med/Surg Patients. Personality Fit: Overall team player that is willing to provide care to our diverse population.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Overview: Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with the established guidelines of nursing practice, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Code of Conduct, Mercy Mission and Values and Mercy Service Standards. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Stand and walk most of the time on duty. Meet unit specific physical demands. Significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements. High risk exposure to blood and body fluids. Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally.
