Maintenance Technician Job Summary Facilities / Maintenance TechniciansThe Housing Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of skilled andsemi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks to supportthe operation and upkeep of University Housing facilities. This is an entry-level position that requires foundationalknowledge in multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing,electrical, painting, and general building maintenance. Responsibilities Facilities / Maintenance Technician, II Performs general maintenance and repairs on housing facilities,equipment, and furnishings. Assists in the installation, repair, and upkeep of electrical,plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems. Conducts regular inspections of assigned areas to identifymaintenance needs and safety concerns. Completes work orders and preventive maintenance tasks in atimely and professional manner. Maintains tools, materials, and equipment in good workingcondition. Ensures compliance with university safety standards,procedures, and applicable codes. Provides excellent customer service to residents and universitystaff. Maintenance techs participate in after-hours or emergencyon-call rotations. (Regular working hours are Monday throughFriday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position also participates in arotating on-call schedule, which includes an extended shift from12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and responsibility for responding toafter-hours maintenance calls via an on-call phone from 9:30 p.m.to 8:00 a.m. Rotations ensure 24-hour maintenance coverage forUniversity Housing facilities.) Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience). Facilities / Maintenance Technician, II: Requiresat least 1 year of related experience. Preferences One (1) year of related experience demonstrating knowledgeofgeneral maintenance and repair techniques, or an equivalentcombination of education and experience (one year of education maysubstitute for two years of related work experience). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from step ladders orscaffolding as required. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. A valid Utah driver's license may be required depending ondepartmental needs. Experience working in a housing, residential life, or highereducation environment. Basic knowledge of building systems including plumbing,electrical, and HVAC. Demonstrated ability to use maintenance management systems orelectronic work order platforms.
