Apply now.Shift Hours: 5:00 am - 5:30 pmDays: Friday, Saturday, Sunday36 hours worked - Paid for 40 hours(Training Hours: 5:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Thursday)Starting Wage $27.93/hrThe Maintenance Mechanic 11 is an individual contributor responsible for performing installation, preventative maintenance & repairs on all plant equipment and facilities including machinery, presses, shears, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, etc.Essential FunctionsPerforms and logs new installations of equipment, including high and low voltage systems, and repairs/replacements of worn parts including fabrication of fixturesConducts daily, weekly, and monthly inspections throughout the plant to ensure all equipment is operating properlyPerforms general maintenance tasks including buildings, grounds, (snow removal), etc.Completes diagnosis, testing, disassembly, inspecting, precise measuring, repair and re-assembly of plant equipment or componentsUses troubleshooting aids, such as volt, ohm and amp meters, and any other tool used to diagnose equipment to interpret readingsSupports manufacturing demands including working during non-peak hours (e.g., off-shifts, weekends, etc.) as required/assigned)Supports Lean Manufacturing initiativesAbility to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature-controlled environment and outdoorsOther duties as required and/or assignedImportant Details about the RoleMust display an aptitude for problem solving and the ability to plan for or around future needs or problemsMust be able to determine when equipment should be removed from or returned to serviceMust be able to identify and report hazardsAccountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipmentActively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and proceduresThis position reports to the Maintenance ManagerRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)One (1) year of relevant industry experience or graduate/certification from an accredited technical school for industrial maintenanceOne (1) year of previous experience operating hand or power tools in a professional environmentWorking knowledge of single and three phase electrical circuitry with an ability to read electrical schematicsWorking knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics and electrical applicationsThe ability to read and understand blueprintsThe ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematicsThe ability to be Valmont trained and certified in operation of forkliftThe ability to read a tape measureThe ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issuesThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of peopleThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructionsThe ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environmentThe ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 poundsWear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow facility safety regulationsAbility to work in a high volume, fast paced environmentMust have a high awareness of safety at all timesMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentThree (3) years of relevant industry experienceAbility to perform basic arc and wire feed weldingBasic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook or similar email softwareWorking Conditions & Physical Efforts:Work is performed in both an outdoor and indoor shop environment. This position will be exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat/cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, smoke, and confined spaces. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The job requires safety glasses, hearing protection, and metatarsal safety shoes be worn at all times. The employee must be able to spend the entire work shift on their feet within the shop environment. The incumbent must also be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) for working in the production facility.Hazards:This job requires handling metal objects some of which have sharp edges. Extreme care and awareness should be taken for all production jobs. Below are some common hazards that exist for this particular position.
