Controller

Position Summary The Controller/Office Manager provides full-charge financial accounting and analysis for management, including crop- and field-level accounting. This role is responsible for maintaining the business system and general ledger, preparing financial statements and reports, supporting financial and comparative analysis, reviewing and recording transactions, assisting with the annual financial review, managing cash, and completing special projects as needed. Key Responsibilities Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Record financial transactions in the business system with AgStar, similar to other ag accounting programs. Prepare financial inputs and supporting information for external accountants during tax preparation. Summarize the company's financial position by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and related reports. Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Maintain crop- and field-level accounting records. Work with other members of management to accurately account for ranching activities. Controls, Compliance, and Cash Management Maintain accounting controls, policies, and procedures. Safeguard financial information by following internal controls. Manage cash through the online banking system. Comply with federal, state, and local financial and legal requirements. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications as needed. Office Management Responsibilities Oversee human resources support for office personnel, currently a team of 4. Oversee accounting for all company payroll. Coordinate and direct selected clerical staff activities. Meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities and tasks. Train and support individuals with varying skill levels. Coordinate additional work as business needs arise. Experience in grower accounting, financial accounting, and financial reporting. Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, time management, and deadline-management skills. Experience with AgStar or a similar business system is preferred; training will be provided as needed. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and general computer skills.
