IS Computer Support Technician I

A regulated power-generation organization needs an entry-level IT support technician to deliver prompt Tier I help desk and desktop support at a secure operating facility. The role handles user assistance, problem determination, software installation and inventory, and day-to-day support for information systems analysts and operations.

The best fit has directly related help desk or desktop support experience, understands client-server and local-area-network fundamentals, and communicates clearly with users while following written procedures in a safety-conscious environment.

Location: Richland, Washington
Schedule: 4x10, Monday through Thursday
Work Setting: Onsite

Contract Duration: Long-term contract supporting a temporary backfill; continuation depends on business need and client approval

Pay Rate: $33.00-$38.50 per hour, depending on experience level and client approval

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and courteously to help desk requests and provide Tier I technical assistance to end users.
• Identify, document, troubleshoot, and resolve common desktop, software, account, connectivity, and peripheral issues within established procedures.
• Escalate incidents that require deeper application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or operations support while preserving accurate notes and handoffs.
• Support information systems analysts with applications, operations, workstation deployments, software installation, updates, licensing, and inventory control.
• Help users make effective use of approved information technology and business systems through clear guidance and follow-up.
• Create and maintain software documentation, work instructions, troubleshooting notes, and other written technical communication.
• Coordinate professionally with customers and vendors to resolve computer problems.
• Work independently and as part of a team while following site procedures, security expectations, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One of the following education and experience combinations: associate degree in a computer-related field; unrelated associate degree plus one year of directly related information systems or help desk experience; or high school diploma/GED plus three years of directly related information systems or help desk experience.
• Basic knowledge of client-server infrastructure, computer and help desk support, local-area networks, and desktop computer architecture.
• Practical understanding of duties performed in a computer support field environment.
• Ability to apply computer knowledge competently, follow written and oral procedures, and troubleshoot with users and vendors.
• Strong oral and written communication, including technical documentation and procedure writing.
• Ability to work the onsite 4x10 schedule in Richland, Washington.
• Ability to satisfy the site-access process and maintain unescorted access to the facility.
• U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on Windows desktop support in a Microsoft 365 environment.
• Exposure to Active Directory or Entra ID, account provisioning, password resets, endpoint deployment, remote-support tools, and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.
• Experience supporting users in a utility, power generation, nuclear, government, healthcare, laboratory, manufacturing, or other procedure-driven environment.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft fundamentals, or comparable entry-level technical certification.
