JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Payroll/Human Resources Clerk Reports to: CFO/Treasurer Job Objective: Performs payroll and human resource duties that support the effective management of school corporation operations. This position requires superior organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment. In this position, you must observe and respect the confidential and sensitive nature of matters handled by the Superintendent’s office. Responsibilities The following are typical work responsibilities. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. Processes and maintains school corporation payroll - twice per month Processes Federal and State tax payments Processes payroll deductions/benefits - Insurance, Garnishments, Annuities, Section 125 & Retirement payments Processes and monitors staff absences, leaves of absence and FMLA paperwork along with the payroll implication of such paid and unpaid leaves Maintains up-to-date Human Resource files, records and documentation Aides with new-hire processes, paperwork, orientation and data entry Monitors accurate records within attendance systems and maintains accurate entry of those records into the financial system Respects personal privacy and maintains the confidentiality of privileged information Cross-trains with other staff and assists as needed to deal with unexpected/urgent situations Performs other specific job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned Essential Qualifications HS Diploma or GED Must be Bondable (higher level background check) A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies Multitasking ability, strong diplomacy skills, and congenial phone etiquette Strong organization & record keeping skills with firm attention to detail Ability to consistently compute mathematical data accurately Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive work environment Experience in basic accounting/bookkeeping procedures Acknowledges personal responsibility for decisions and conduct Performs prescribed activities efficiently with limited supervision Reacts productively to interruptions and changing conditions Effectively uses listening, observation, reading, verbal, nonverbal, and writing skills Prepares accurate and timely paperwork, while verifying and correctly entering data Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual Maintains a professional appearance. Wears work attire appropriate for the position Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of the following systems. Google Suite Frontline/AESOP On The Clock Software Systems Inc. (Financial Management System-FMS) Working Conditions Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. Duties may require lifting, carrying and moving work-related supplies/equipment Duties may require traveling to meetings and work assignments Duties may require performing repetitive tasks quickly Duties may require prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching and standing Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines Potential for interaction with aggressive, disruptive and/or unruly individuals Performance Evaluation Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Porter Township School Corporation.
