Receiving Clerk

Receiving Clerk Purpose Support production lines with raw materials that meet Nexans quality standards. Maintain accuracy and records of all shipments, incoming and outgoing. Receiving Unload and inspect incoming raw materials and indirect supplies, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correct discrepancies with shippers. Compare identifying information, counts, weights, or measures of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify accuracy against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Log received materials/products into the appropriate system (SAP or ARIBA). Route incoming shipments to inventory storage or the appropriate recipient. Execute the vendor returns process. Work with the Finance team to address receiving/invoicing discrepancies. Collect raw material samples for quality approval. Shipping Determine the method of shipment for all small package and palletized freight (e.g., Fed‑Ex). Schedule freight pickup with carriers and examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications (wrap, palletize, and crate product). Create shipping labels and bills of lading for freight shipments. Load miscellaneous freight onto freight trucks for shipping. Load empty and full cable reels from and onto trucks using lift trucks outdoors or an overhead crane indoors. Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage. Ensure proper packaging of all shipments. Inventory Management Conduct scheduled and ad‑hoc cycle count activity. Identify and support resolution of inventory differences. Maintain a strong understanding of FIFO (first in, first out). Monitor aging stock. Waste Stream / Recycling Dump trash and recycling hopper contents into the proper dumpsters and compactors. Schedule dumpster and compactor pickups and swaps. Weigh and record scrap weights of recycled cable materials. Material Handling & Line‑side Presentation Clean and prep raw materials for storage in the warehouse and at production lines. Confirm label accuracy of raw materials. General Operate various material‑handling equipment (lift trucks, pallet jack, cart, hand truck, etc.) to move materials from shipping and receiving platforms to storage or work areas. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Keep loading docks clear and open for incoming and outgoing shipments. Provide coverage for the Warehouse Supervisor during absence. Comply with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment. Promote, support, and implement continuous‑improvement activities within Supply Chain and Production to reduce bottlenecks and manufacturing throughput time. Required Skills and Qualifications 3‑5 years’ experience in warehousing in a manufacturing setting. High school diploma or equivalent. Forklift experience required; willingness to learn additional equipment and receive training on specific equipment. Ability to handle heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Position requires standing/walking 50%, operating material‑handling equipment 30%, and sitting at a desk 20%. Ability to work individually as well as on a team. Clear and concise communication with employees of the organization. Organized, able to multi‑task, and work in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work overtime (weekends, nights, and holidays) as needed. Good computer systems knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Basic carpentry skills (tape measure, saws, nail gun, various hand tools). Strong quality mindset. Desired Skills and Qualifications Strong experience in SAP. Ability to operate forklifts.
