Senior Medical Device Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Medical Device Engineer to support the development and implementation of innovative manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies for next-generation medical devices. This role will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to design, optimize, and scale processes from development through pilot production and manufacturing.

• Design, document, and optimize manufacturing processes and operating procedures
• Develop fixtures, jigs, and equipment components to support production goals
• Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and process characterization activities
• Lead material qualification, dispensing, curing, and root cause investigations
• Create equipment specifications, drawings, calibration plans, and maintenance requirements
• Support pilot manufacturing builds and technology transfer activities
• Implement and optimize inspection, testing, and measurement systems
• Identify process risks and drive mitigation plans
• Support manufacturing scale-up from prototype through pilot production

• Fixture and equipment design experience
• Design of Experiments (DOE)
• SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
• Process development and optimization
• Strong technical communication skills

• Experience with JMP, Minitab, or other statistical analysis software
• Medical device industry experience
• Experience with process validation, MSA, and capability analysis
• Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes
• Experience with automation or robotics platforms

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• 5-8 years of relevant engineering experience

This is an onsite position supporting a collaborative R&D and pilot manufacturing environment in San Diego. The role combines hands-on process development, equipment design, laboratory testing, data analysis, and cross-functional project work within a regulated medical device environment.

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in San Diego,CA.
