The Position Mill Operator Job Summary Job Description Key Tasks and Responsibilities Perform all pre-shift and workplace examination prior to operation. Study blueprint, layout, and other specifications to determine crude clay needs, sequence of operations, and dimensions. Move controls to set specifications and start machine. Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls as needed or when automatic programming is faulty/ machines malfunction. Perform in-process product testing to ensure quality according to set specifications. Record test results on quality report submitted to lab. Observe machine operation and use quality tests (with emphasis on moisture & grind) to make adjustments to controls/ crude mix to ensure conformance within specification tolerances and efficient machine operation. Perform basic equipment greasing while mill is not in operation. Assist other departments, dump hoppers, cleaning feeder tanks, and maintenance as needed. Skills and Attributes Requirements Working knowledge of production process and computerized milling controls. Safety protocols for operating milling system. Routine equipment maintenance.
