Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of RN experience with a minimum of 1 year in an ED setting.

Details

• 101-bed Emergency Department within a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
• High-volume ED environment serving a highly diverse, multicultural community
• Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
• Support staff includes techs in cardiac monitoring, internal processing, and triage, as well as unit clerks on day and night shifts
• Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Documentation via Cerner
• Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet department needs and block scheduling is not available
• No floating outside of the ED; however, candidates must be open to floating to all sections within the ED

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications (all must be in hand before start): BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
• ENPC required within 90 days of hire
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an ED setting
• Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits/year) strongly preferred
• Previous HCA experience preferred
• Must demonstrate teamwork mentality and ability to coach and give real-time feedback
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Responsible for delivering patient-centered care following AIDET communication standards, maintaining respectful behavior, and keeping patient boards and patients updated throughout their visit
• Must maintain flexibility to work in all areas of the ED
• Navy scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible for this position
