The ideal candidate knows how to perform sand blasting on underwater hulls, and tanks, ballast, fuel, and potable water. May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the Production manager for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner.Must be willing to travel.ResponsibilitiesRemove dirt, paint, grease, and other built-up material from surfacesSet up and operate a blast booth or similar equipmentLoad and unload the blast equipmentOperate and maintain blasting equipment, and ensure it is safe and efficientAssist with painting or coating as neededApply and remove non-skid materials as neededUse proper PPE, including respiratorsEffectively using heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignmentImplement and follow the company's safety, quality, environmental policies, and OSHA shipbuilding regulationsQualificationsAbility to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelinesAttentive to detail and alert always to ensure safetyAble to receive, and follow instructions and communicate with co-workersExcellent Verbal and written communication skillsAbility to safely operate various vehicles and equipmentPrevious experience, especially in particular industry, 3 years preferredSSPC C7 CertificationAvailable to work long shifts when needed 10+ hoursEducation RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED, B.A., Technical/Vocational trade school, or apprenticeshipWorking Conditions and Physical DemandsWork is conducted indoors and outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat as well as noise and dust present depending upon the location of work. Safety equipment required.The individual must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical. Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous. Dynamic, fast-paced outdoor settingwith moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
