Specimen Technician

Job TitleJob Overview: Pay Range: $16.20hr - $18hrRequirement/Must Have:High School diploma or equivalent.Basic understanding of computers.Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.Ability to learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests.Ability to learn and understand compliance regulations related to test ordering.Availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required by staffing needs.Responsibilities:Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station, presort, and imaging.Handle pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.Perform centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens.Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner.Work in a biohazard environment while practicing established safety habits.Maintain a neat and clean work area.Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.Demonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to changing daily requirements.Due to nature of job The candidate must have Ability to sit or stand for long periods.Nice to Have:Knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.Previous hospital laboratory experience.Previous experience in a production environment.Skills:Data Entry.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Aliquoting.Medical Terminology.Laboratory Safety.Alphanumeric Data Entry.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills.Qualification And Education:High School Diploma.
