About the Role As a Precision Manual Machinist, you will play a critical role in the repair and overhaul of large-scale industrial vacuum pumps and compressors. Responsibilities Perform complex setups and operations on large vertical and horizontal lathes to restore industrial pump components. Interpret intricate blueprints and technical drawings to achieve tolerances as tight as .0005”. Select optimal cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to ensure superior surface finishes and dimensional accuracy. Execute safe rigging and lifting of heavy components using overhead cranes to facilitate efficient repair workflows. Operate forklifts safely within the machine shop to manage material flow and equipment staging. Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, vernier calipers, and dial indicators to ensure quality compliance. Collaborate with the team to disassemble, rebuild, and reassemble large-scale mechanical systems. Adhere to rigorous safety protocols and quality management system standards in all daily tasks. Qualifications Required Skills 3+ years of professional experience as a machinist or machine operator. Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting complex mechanical blueprints. 1+ year of hands-on experience operating king-style boring mills or vertical turret lathes (VTL). Strong command of precision measuring tools, including bore gauges, height gauges, and micrometers. Ability to perform unit conversions and apply standard problem-solving methodologies. Preferred Skills Completion of a formal machining certification or relevant technical education. Advanced experience with manual machining on Cincinnati or King brand equipment.
