Division Chair, Applied Clinical Psychology

Overview The Applied Clinical Psychology program is a post‑master’s Psy.D. program. Students complete two years of coursework covering advanced topics in psychology, a practicum in the second year, and a full‑time internship in the third year. They also complete a dissertation. Position Title Division Chair – Applied Clinical Psychology Principal Duties Distinguish the program by providing a vision that directs and motivates faculty to be innovative. Manage the operations of the program in a complex, fast‑paced higher education environment. Ensure the quality of the faculty, curriculum, assessment of student learning, and scholarly activity of faculty and students. Actively involve in student recruitment to facilitate program growth and meet enrollment targets. Develop strategic community partnerships to support student recruitment and program growth. Maintain collegial relationships with accrediting and professional bodies and complete required reporting or documentation. Facilitate Program Faculty Governance and all faculty meetings. Supervise and develop Program, Affiliate, and Adjunct Faculty to meet quality standards and goals. Oversee and coordinate the academic program to meet quality, relevance, and currency standards. Oversee and coordinate student affairs within the program. Develop viable new curricular offerings in the field. Participate in research, writing, and ultimately be responsible for any necessary self‑study or program‑related reports. Manage the student learning assessment plan and the program review process to identify needed improvements. Develop strategic academic and budget plans for the department, including recommendations from assessment and program review. Outreach and recruit faculty to support student recruitment. Coordinate or manage student training. Supervise teaching, advisement, dissertation activities, and other duties performed by faculty to meet department academic goals. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The Division Chair must be an optimistic, action‑oriented leader who can motivate faculty to embrace values in the classroom and within the institution. They must balance institutional priorities with program needs and initiatives, have at least 3–4 years of administrative experience as an academic department chair or program director, and a record of scholarship or professional experience commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The ideal candidate will be an experienced practitioner‑scholar with strong visionary and leadership skills, thrive in a diverse, rich, and innovative environment, and be open to professional practice for faculty and administrators. Position Qualifications Earned doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, preferably from an APA accredited program. License to practice psychology, preferably in California. Strong record of administrative experience in higher education. Teaching and academic administration at graduate level and professional experience. Experience with online and on‑ground teaching formats. Strong interest in developing future leaders through curriculum. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage operational processes, including program budget. Solid people‑development skills, fostering opportunities for faculty and staff to excel. Ability to balance institutional priorities with program needs and initiatives. Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to be flexible and work in an expanding and changing environment.
