Shipyard Laborer - Immediate Hiring

This role supports shipyard operations by performing firewatch during hot work, setting up and cleaning work sites, and assisting marine trades personnel aboard U.S. Navy vessels. The shipyard laborer works in physically demanding conditions, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces, to help ensure safe and efficient maintenance and repair activities.

• Perform firewatch duties in support of hot work, continuously monitoring the area for potential hazards and responding promptly to unsafe conditions.
• Set up work sites by staging tools, equipment, and materials needed for maintenance and repair tasks aboard U.S. Navy vessels.
• Clean up work sites after tasks are completed, ensuring all tools, debris, and materials are properly removed or stored to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
• Lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis to support shipyard operations.
• Climb up and down ladders frequently to access various areas of vessels and work platforms.
• Work safely in confined spaces as required for shipboard maintenance and repair activities.
• Provide hands-on assistance to marine trades personnel by acting as an extra set of hands during maintenance and repair tasks.
• Use hand tools and power tools as directed to support general labor tasks within the shipyard.
• Follow all safety procedures, guidelines, and instructions to protect self, coworkers, and equipment during shipyard operations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently.

• Experience performing general labor in an industrial, construction, or shipyard environment.
• Ability to perform firewatch duties in support of hot work, including continuous monitoring of work areas.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to climb ladders frequently and work at various heights as required.
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces aboard vessels.
• Proficiency using basic hand tools for general labor tasks.
• Proficiency using basic power tools in a safe and controlled manner.
• Eligibility to obtain DBIDs (ITAR) access for work on U.S. Navy vessels and related facilities.
• Commitment to following safety protocols and shipyard procedures.

• Previous experience working in a shipyard or marine environment.
• Experience supporting marine trades personnel with maintenance and repair activities.
• Familiarity with shipboard environments, including navigating tight and confined spaces.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions from supervisors and trades personnel.
• Reliability and punctuality in a schedule-driven industrial setting.

The role involves frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces, often in varying temperatures and conditions typical of shipboard and shipyard environments. You wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required for firewatch and general labor tasks, and you work as part of a coordinated team focused on safe, efficient completion of shipyard projects.

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
