Corporate ControllerThe Corporate Controller is a key financial leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's corporate and division accounting functions for a large, publicly traded homebuilding organization operating across multiple markets and legal entities. Working closely with the Chief Accounting Officer, this role ensures the integrity, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all accounting activities, financial reporting, and internal controls. The Corporate Controller leads a geographically dispersed accounting organization, drives consistent accounting practices across divisions, manages complex homebuilding accounting matters, and serves as a primary liaison with external auditors.Financial Reporting & CloseLead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for corporate and division operationsOversee consolidated financial reporting across all markets and legal entitiesReview and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and management schedulesEnsure GAAP compliance, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reportingHomebuilding & Construction AccountingLand acquisition, land development, and lot inventory accountingCapitalization of interest and indirect construction costsRevenue recognition under ASC 606 specific to homebuilding transactionsWarranty reserves, model costs, and construction accrualsDivision Oversight & StandardizationProvide functional leadership to division controllers and accounting managersStandardize accounting policies, close calendars, and internal controls across divisionsAddress market-level accounting nuances while maintaining corporate consistencyTechnical Accounting & AuditServe as the primary technical accounting resource for complex transactionsCoordinate external audit planning, fieldwork, and issue resolutionSupport SEC reporting, disclosures, and SOX complianceSystems & Process ImprovementOversee accounting systems, job cost systems, and consolidation toolsPartner with Finance and IT on system enhancements and automation initiativesEnsure data integrity across operational and financial systemsLeadership & Talent DevelopmentLead, develop, and mentor a high-performing accounting organizationEstablish clear expectations, accountability, and performance managementBuild succession planning and future leadership capabilitiesWhat you will need: (competencies, behaviors & attributes)Business AcumenCustomer FocusDeveloping Direct Reports and OthersDrive for ResultsPriority SettingSelf-KnowledgeAbout you:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred; MBA preferred10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in homebuilding or constructionPublic company and multi-division accounting experience strongly preferredFLSA Status: ExemptWill have responsibilities such as:Interviewing, selecting, and training employeesSetting rates of pay and hours of workAppraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employeesDetermining work techniquesPlanning the workApportioning work among employeesDetermining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials neededPlanning budgets for workMonitoring work for legal or regulatory complianceProviding for safety and security of the workplaceEssential Functions:Report to Division/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to scheduleAbility to oversee direct reports daily and provide guidance as neededAbility to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic deviceAbility to have face to face conversations with customers, co-workers and higher level managerAbility to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as neededAbility to operate a motor vehicleComply with company policies and procedurePhysical Demands:Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the timeThe ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds*Taylor Morrison experience and/or successful completion of training program may override required education and/or experience requirement.Job descriptions are not intended as, nor should be construed to be, exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with a job.
