Job Description Human Resources Coordinator / Recruiter Location: Long Beach, California Department: Human Resources Reports To: Human Resources Manager / Director of Human Resources Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Human Resources Coordinator / Recruiter to join our growing transportation and distribution team in Long Beach, California. This role is responsible for managing full-cycle recruiting while supporting daily HR operations, employee onboarding, compliance, benefits administration, and employee relations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and has experience recruiting hourly and salaried employees across warehouse, transportation, operations, and corporate functions. This position requires exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while providing outstanding service to employees and hiring managers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for hourly, non-exempt, exempt, and management positions. Partner with department managers to understand hiring needs and develop effective recruiting strategies. Create and post job advertisements on job boards, company career sites, and social media platforms. Source qualified candidates through online recruiting platforms, networking, referrals, career fairs, and community outreach. Screen resumes, conduct phone interviews, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers. Schedule interviews and maintain communication throughout the hiring process. Conduct employment reference checks and coordinate pre-employment background checks and drug screenings. Prepare and extend employment offers. Maintain applicant tracking system (ATS) records and ensure recruiting compliance. Monitor recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, applicant flow, and hiring effectiveness. Human Resources Coordination Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and employee documentation. Prepare offer letters, new hire paperwork, and personnel files. Maintain accurate employee records while ensuring confidentiality. Process employee status changes including promotions, transfers, terminations, and salary adjustments. Assist with HRIS data entry and maintenance. Support employee engagement initiatives and company events. Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll, and procedures. Assist managers with employee relations matters and documentation. Coordinate employee recognition and wellness programs. Compliance & Administration Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws including California labor regulations. Maintain I-9 documentation and E-Verify records (if applicable). Assist with workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs. Support unemployment claims administration. Maintain compliance with DOT employment requirements where applicable. Assist with HR audits and reporting. Prepare monthly HR reports and recruiting analytics. Maintain employee handbooks, policies, and HR forms. Benefits & Payroll Support Assist employees with benefits enrollment and changes. Coordinate new hire benefits orientation. Support annual Open Enrollment activities. Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate employee information and timely processing. Resolve payroll-related inquiries. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience 3+ years of Human Resources experience. Minimum 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience. Experience recruiting for transportation, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution environments preferred. Experience supporting both exempt and non-exempt employees. California employment law knowledge strongly preferred.
