Job Summary We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to support our Pre-operative, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurses and surgical team in the Operating Room (OR). This position plays a key role in maintaining smooth clinical workflows by assisting with patient care, preparing surgical environments, and supporting the nursing and surgical staff before, during, and after procedures. Key Responsibilities Assist with pre-operative preparation, testing, and documentation. Support OR teams by preparing rooms, gathering necessary instruments and supplies, and ensuring surgical areas are clean and stocked. Transport patients safely to and from pre-op, OR, and PACU. Assist PACU nurses with patient monitoring, comfort, and post-operative care. Provide clerical support such as documenting patient vitals, updating charts, and assisting with supply ordering. Monitor inventory of medical supplies and assist in restocking as needed. Clean and disinfect non-sterile equipment and work areas according to infection control standards. Serve as a communication liaison between nursing staff, surgeons, and other departments as directed. Assist with dressing changes, positioning patients, and other delegated clinical tasks within scope of certification. Provide patient-centered care in a professional and empathetic manner. Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs. Assist SPD with routine cleaning and sterilization of instruments and supplies. Oversee and ensure equipment safety compliance. Conduct and uphold routine equipment safety inspections. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program. Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) Required. Current BLS certification is strongly preferred. Previous experience in a surgical or outpatient surgery center setting is strongly preferred. Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of aseptic technique and patient safety protocols. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment.
