Fanny's Restaurant & Cafe, located inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, is seeking a passionate Sous Chef who enjoys working in a collaborative, high-energy kitchen environment and is excited to contribute to a culinary program focused on innovation, seasonality, and excellence. This is an opportunity to work alongside a talented culinary team, support day-to-day kitchen operations, and help create outstanding dining experiences for museum visitors, special events, and the Los Angeles community.

As a Sous Chef, you will partner closely with the Executive Chef to ensure exceptional food quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction. You will contribute to menu execution, team development, inventory management, and operational excellence while helping foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive kitchen culture. This role is ideal for a culinary professional who enjoys mentoring others, values craftsmanship, and thrives in an environment where hospitality, teamwork, and creativity are at the center of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the planning, preparation, and execution of high-quality menu offerings across restaurant and event operations.
• Coordinate and actively participate in food production while maintaining exceptional standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.
• Partner with culinary leadership on menu development, seasonal offerings, and unique dining experiences.
• Support the implementation of new menu items, culinary initiatives, and guest-focused programs.
• Assist with inventory management, purchasing, ordering, and food cost control efforts.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Coach, train, and support culinary team members through hands-on leadership and mentorship.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative kitchen environment.
• Support scheduling, production planning, and efficient kitchen operations.
• Contribute to a culture of culinary excellence, hospitality, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience in culinary operations, including leadership, supervisory, or team development responsibilities.
• Background in restaurants, hospitality, catering, hotels, fine dining, corporate dining, healthcare, education, or related foodservice environments.
• Passion for exceptional food, ingredient quality, and memorable guest experiences.
• Knowledge of food production methods, menu execution, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards.
• Experience supporting inventory management, purchasing, and food cost controls.
• Ability to lead by example while helping team members grow and succeed.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• ServSafe Certification or Department of Health certification is preferred.
• Culinary degree or formal culinary training is preferred.
