Child Nutrition General WorkerThis posting is for anticipated part-time vacancies for Child Nutrition General Worker positions in the Caesar Rodney School District. We anticipate openings for 5.5-hour, 4-hour, and 3-hour shifts, depending on individual site needs. Openings may become available at various times throughout the year based on staffing needs and operational requirements. School Placement: Placement at a specific school is based on vacancies and site needs. Because this is a districtwide posting, a requested school placement cannot be guaranteed. While preferences will be considered, placement is ultimately determined by district needs and available vacancies.Qualifications:Excellent physical health / must be able to lift 35 lbs and stand on solid industrial floors for several hoursHigh school diploma or GED is requiredExperience in school food service preferredWillingness to advance or train for any jobHas good interpersonal communication skillsAbility to understand and follow verbal and written instructionsBasic Function:Perform the duties as assigned by the manager; develop and implement all food service duties which will result in a safe, attractive, nutritious meal and pleasant atmosphere.Responsibilities:Perform the final preparation of food items, including sandwiches, fruits, salads and other menu itemsSet up serving areas and assist with the service of meals in accordance with established proceduresClean and sanitize food preparation, serving, and dining areas following meal servicePerform other related duties as assigned by the managerDuties:Perform all basic duties in food preparation, such as dipping desserts, making sandwiches, preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, and salad makingDevelop an understanding of and practice good sanitation and safe food handling practicesAssure that sanitation, health, and all safety standards required by the State Board of Health are practiced and meet departmental standardsHelp with other food preparation tasks where and when neededDisplay a knowledge of the different food components for a reimbursable meal for the child nutrition programs when serving foodsMust be willing to learn how to operate commercial food preparation equipment such as slicers, steamers, ovens, and mixersFollows the manager's instructions in preparing, cooking, portioning, and serving mealsParticipates in the responsibilities for all cleaning duties, including dishwashingMust learn how to operate the point of sale (POS) equipmentMaintains regular, on-time attendanceReacts to change productively and performs other duties as assignedSalary: In accordance with the State of Delaware and local salary schedules, based on experience.Pre-Employment Requirements: Individuals must provide official transcripts, if applicable, updated resume, and three (3) letters of recommendation. All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
