Payroll Specialist

Overview The Payroll team is responsible for all activities required to complete payroll operations. The Payroll Specialist will work as part of the Payroll team and will be primarily responsible for maintaining and processing all aspects of the biweekly and interim payrolls. This position works collaboratively with all departments, including Human Resources, Benefits, Compensation, Finance, Accounts Payable and third party administrators to ensure accurate and timely payrolls utilizing the HCM/ERP/Timekeeping Systems. Hours and Work Schedule Hours of Work: 40 Days Of Week: 5 Work Shift: 8X5 Day (United States of America) Primary Responsibilities The Payroll Specialist job is responsible for completing a variety of payroll related tasks to ensure that employees are paid correctly and for completing all required deposits and reports. Provide internal customer support for requests from employees, supervisors or department heads in person, via email and telephone for explanation of a payroll related inquiry; research, resolve or route the question(s) or issue(s). Oversee the timely input/processing of W-4 and Direct Deposit forms and requests. Review and set up all garnishment orders including preparation of orders and correspondence for scanning. Support daily/weekly review of timesheets to ensure proper application of policies; contact departments to resolve issues. Run payroll reports in timekeeping and ERP systems; prepare, review and take appropriate action on audit reports to verify and/or process data. Audit pre and post payroll to ensure accuracy of hours, wages, tax deductions, garnishments, voluntary deductions and benefit accruals; research, resolve and route issues as needed. Process biweekly payroll through to delivery of checks, payslips and transmission of files to outside banks and agencies. Balance and prepare tax data for quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and related reports. Assist in facilitating payroll timekeeping system classes and provide individual assistance with timekeeping system as needed to employees, editors and approvers. Assist payroll management and systems analyst with software and hardware issues. Assist with payroll testing for software upgrades, patches and enhancements. Work on special projects as assigned, and cross-train to support other team members. Maintain accountability for the above responsibilities. Experience and Education Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Excellent customer service skills and work ethic with ability to interact with all levels of employees Knowledge of automated time and attendance system; knowledge of API preferred 2+ years of Workday HCM and Payroll experience High School diploma required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred Shift Details Shift: Payroll operations Monday-Friday 8 am-4:30 pm (flexible start hours from 7:00 AM to 9:00am) Physical Demands and Work Environment The following describes the physical demands and environmental factors of the role.
