Accountant

Arcus Advisors is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a growing portfolio of managed accounting clients. This role is responsible for executing core accounting processes, managing month-end close activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping clients build scalable accounting operations. As a Senior Accountant, you will move beyond basic transaction processing and become a trusted member of the client service team. You'll own significant portions of the close process, research accounting issues, develop documentation, identify opportunities for improvement, and help ensure clients receive accurate and timely financial information they can rely on to run their businesses. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys understanding how accounting transactions flow through the financial statements, takes pride in well-organized workpapers, and wants exposure to a variety of industries, systems, and accounting challenges. What You'll Do Manage Day-to-Day Accounting Operations Process and review cash, accounts payable, payroll, credit card, and other recurring transactions. Maintain supporting schedules and subsidiary ledgers. Monitor cash activity and assist with cash management and funding needs. Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues as they arise. Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently across client engagements. Execute the Month-End Close Prepare bank, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations. Maintain prepaid expense and fixed asset schedules. Record recurring and non-recurring journal entries. Prepare accruals and other period-end adjustments. Analyze account activity and investigate unusual fluctuations. Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial reporting packages. Improve Processes and Build Documentation Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures and client-specific process documentation. Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort. Help implement technology, automation, and process improvements. Ensure workpapers and documentation remain organized, current, and review-ready. Collaborate with Clients and Internal Teams Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and resolve questions. Work closely with managers and engagement leaders to meet deadlines and client expectations. Support onboarding of new clients, processes, and systems. Assist in training and mentoring less experienced team members. Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high-quality client service. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within public accounting, client accounting services, outsourced accounting, or a multi-entity environment. Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. Strong proficiency in Excel and cloud-based accounting systems. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications CPA or CPA candidate. Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage, NetSuite, or other cloud-based accounting applications. Experience supporting multiple clients or business entities simultaneously.
