LPN THIS IS NOT A MED TECH POSITION Full Time / 40 hours per week Monday-Friday - NO WEEKENDS 6:45 A.M. - 3:15 P.M. LPN PAY RANGE: $29.00 - $36.00 SUMMARY The primary purpose of a Certified Medication Aide is to assist in the administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the Nurse Supervisor or the Charge Nurse and the Director of Nursing. Medication administration is performed in accordance with established nursing standards, facility policies, procedures and practices, and state regulations. DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY As a Certified Medication Aide you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibilities, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. EMPLOYMENT AT WILL Employment with Fahrney‑Keedy is “at will.” Either the associate or Fahrney‑Keedy may terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time without notice. CONFIDENTIALITY Fahrney‑Keedy associates acknowledge that the company has and will have information regarding financial, personal, and medical affairs and other vital information. Associates agree not to solicit, collect, or disclose any information to any third party without written consent. Information is company property and may not be disclosed outside the facility unless properly released. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Drug Administration & Resident Care Accurately and safely prepares, administers, and documents the oral and/or topical medications typically used in the facility. Verifies medications brought in by newly admitted residents and ensures proper labeling and documentation. Follows facility policies for drug receipt, error reporting, and medication disposal. Records vital signs, observes medication ingestion or application, and documents any refusal or error. Notifies charge nurse, nurse supervisor, or Director of Nursing of medication errors, reactions, or failures to take medication. Ensures all medications are administered only with written, signed, dated orders from an attending licensed physician. Verifies patient identity before administration and documents administration according to facility procedures. Assist in monitoring and documenting self‑administering medications. Follows guidelines for drug storage, uses common medical abbreviations, and participates in resident assessment development. Administrative Duties Follows institution policies governing medication administration. Documents and reports medication errors and completes required forms and charts. Maintains professional relationships with department and facility personnel. Reports complaints, grievances, or allegations of abuse to the Director of Nursing. Protects resident privacy and confidentiality, including safeguarding login credentials and protected health information. Adheres to information system security protocols and reports suspicious or unauthorized access attempts. Attends annual in‑service training and follows safety and infection control procedures. Safety & Infection Control Keeps call buttons within easy reach of residents and promptly reports any missing residents. Follows safety precautions, reports hazardous conditions, and wears or uses required safety equipment. Provides appropriate hand hygiene and uses sanitizer consistently. Reports defective equipment and ensures compliance with isolation precautions. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Works throughout the facility, subject to frequent interruptions. Interacts with hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, visitors, and others. May work beyond normal hours, including weekends, holidays, and in other positions as needed. Subject to call‑back during emergencies (e.g., severe weather, evacuation). Handles hazardous chemicals and infectious waste; may be exposed to TB, HIV, Hepatitis B, and other diseases. Attends and participates in educational programs. Subject to injury from falls, burns, odors, dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants. RESIDENT RIGHTS Maintains confidentiality of resident care information, including protected health information. Treats all residents with kindness, dignity, and respect. Provides nursing care in privacy. Knocks and waits for permission before entering resident rooms. Reports grievances, complaints, abuse, or misappropriation of resident property to the Director of Nursing or Abuse Coordinator. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Must read, write, speak, and understand English. Must possess the knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for resident age‑related needs. Must be a supportive team member, contribute to teamwork, and act as an example of teamwork. Must make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public. Must work harmoniously with other staff. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, and be willing to handle difficult residents. Must seek out and incorporate new methods and principles into nursing practice. Must be able to communicate resident condition information. Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace. EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required. PRIOR/RELATED EXPERIENCE Must be a Certified Medication Aide in accordance with state laws. PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to speak and write in English in an understandable manner. Must cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics to enable functioning of these senses. Must function independently, demonstrating personal integrity and effective collaboration with residents, staff, and support agencies. Must meet general health requirements, including medical and physical examinations. Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people. Must not have a weight‑lifting restriction, and must be able to lift and move a minimum of 25 pounds and carry a minimum of 50 feet. May assist in evacuations during emergencies. #J-18808-Ljbffr
