Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Nurse Assistant on 2nd Floor GPU, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. Here's what you'll do:

• Deliver Compassionate Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, and comfort measures while maintaining the highest standards of safety and dignity. Work directly under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to ensure all patient needs are met promptly and professionally.
• Collaborate as a Care Team Member: Partner with RNs to plan and implement patient care strategies. Provide valuable input and observations that help shape individualized care plans for our diverse patient population—from post-surgical orthopedic patients to general med/surg admissions.
• Respond with Confidence: Stay alert and ready to respond to emergent situations following established protocols. Your quick thinking and adherence to procedures directly impact patient safety and outcomes.
• Support a Dynamic Unit: Contribute to the smooth operation of our 32-bed specialty unit by assisting with patient transfers, monitoring, and communication. Embrace the multitude of learning opportunities our diverse patient population provides.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• CNA preferred.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.) OR
• May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. OR
• Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license. OR
• Medical Assistant program with OR without experience. OR
• At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
