Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Nurse Assistant in our Observation unit, you'll be the vital link between patients and our clinical team. Working collaboratively under the direction of our Registered Nurses, you'll deliver compassionate patient care while ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity. You'll be empowered to voice observations, contribute meaningfully to patient care planning, and respond confidently to dynamic clinical situations. In this role, you will:

• Perform essential clinical assessments including blood draws, vital signs monitoring, venipuncture, and chemstick testing—building your technical skills while providing critical data that guides patient care decisions
• Collaborate actively in team roundings , contributing your frontline observations and insights to enhance comprehensive patient care planning
• Identify and communicate concerns with keen attention to patient needs, staff dynamics, and personal well-being—ensuring nothing falls through the cracks and supporting a culture of safety and transparency
• Respond effectively to emergent situations by following established protocols with confidence and composure, knowing your actions make a real difference
• Embrace continuous professional development , actively seeking learning opportunities to expand your clinical knowledge and advance your nursing career

Qualifications

Education/Experience : 

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Must meet one of the following required criteria: 
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)) but perform the same job role.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
  • At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
  • May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license

Certifications/Licensures : 

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license preferred.
• Complete BLS Heartsaver Certification during orientation.
