Registered Nurse - Operating Room

A Brief Overview The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on AORN standards of care and professional nursing practice: accountable for outcomes of nursing care delivered. What You Will Do Prepares patients for surgery and addresses their concerns. Ensures the operating room is sterile, and secures necessary supplies and instruments for surgery. Hands over medical supplies to attending surgeons during operations. Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum, and observes patient vital signs. Informs attending surgeon of issues and anomalies. Education Qualifications Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) – Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) – Preferred Experience Qualifications Previous experience in an acute care critical care setting – Preferred Skills And Abilities Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Knowledge of equipment and appropriate use. Knowledge of and compliance with the Universal Protocol. Knowledge of proper patient positioning. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse – South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation in good standing with South Carolina Board of Nursing – Required Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association within 30 days of hire and recertification every two (2) years – Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified – American Heart Association – Preferred Physical Demand Medium Physical Demand The intent of this job description is to provide a representative and level of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a contract for employment nor a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
