Role Description The Senior Teller is a full-time, on-site position located in Newton Centre, MA, responsible for performing and overseeing daily financial and cashiering transactions for the City. This role typically includes processing payments, receiving and disbursing funds, issuing receipts, reconciling cash drawers, and ensuring accuracy in financial records. The Senior Teller assists residents and internal departments with inquiries, provides courteous customer service, and helps resolve transaction discrepancies. The position may also support the implementation of financial procedures, maintain secure handling of cash and checks, and prepare reports for supervisory staff. Collaboration with colleagues, adherence to city policies, and maintaining confidentiality of financial information are essential components of the role. Qualifications Strong cash-handling, payment processing, and transaction reconciliation skills, with attention to accuracy and detail. Customer service and communication skills to interact effectively with residents, coworkers, and other city departments, including being able to communicate in at least one additional language other rhan English is preferred. Basic accounting, bookkeeping, and data entry skills, including familiarity with financial records and documentation. Proficiency with office software and financial systems (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, point-of-sale or cashiering systems). Ability to follow established procedures, comply with financial controls, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Organizational and time-management skills to handle high transaction volumes and prioritize multiple tasks. Experience in a bank, municipal finance office, or similar environment is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in finance, accounting, or business is beneficial.
