The FSQA Lead Tech supports food manufacturing operations by coordinating shift-level food safety and quality activities, administering HACCP, preventive controls, and environmental monitoring programs, and partnering closely with the FSQA Manager and production teams. This job operates in a production and lab environment. Warehouse and production exposure will be expected. You may be exposed to fumes, temperature changes (hot, cold), loud noises, wet environment and moving mechanical parts and vibration. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee is occasionally lift to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision; Distance vision; Ability to adjust focus.

 

Responsibilities

• Conduct food safety audits across food manufacturing operations.
• Administer HACCP and preventive controls programs.
• Manage environmental monitoring activities.
• Coordinate food safety and quality activities at the shift level.
• Collaborate with the FSQA Manager and production teams to support compliance.
• Promote a culture of food safety, quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, GMPs, HACCP plans, Food Safety Plans, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements throughout the organization.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to QA Technicians.
• Maintain awareness of department performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
• Performs other duties as assigned by a manager.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in food safety and quality assurance.
• Associate degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• HACCP certification.
• PCQI certification.
• Experience in sauce, dressing, beverage, or ready-to-eat food manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of GMP compliance, food safety auditing, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
• Experience with environmental monitoring, root cause analysis, and quality management systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and team leadership skills.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, SQF/BRC, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
• Effective communication, coaching, and training abilities.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required.
• Ability to conduct investigations, analyze data, and implement corrective actions
• Ability to demonstrate good communication skills in English oral and written.
• Time management and multi-task
• Team Player with good communication skills
• Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
• Accountable and results driven.
• Self-motivated.
• Acute attention to detail
• Strong time management skills
