Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from JC Porter About the Company A rapidly growing, nationwide outsourced accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead, scale, and elevate its accounting function. This is a builder role for a hands‑on accounting leader who enjoys developing people, modernizing processes, and shaping how a department operates as the firm continues to scale. About the Role This role combines operational leadership, team development, and strategic oversight. You’ll own the accounting function that supports advisory and tax work, guide a growing team, and help design the structure needed to support long‑term growth. Responsibilities Own and lead the accounting department as client volume grows Design scalable team structures, layered roles, and leadership development paths Forecast capacity, workload, and resource needs as the firm scales Support pricing, margins, and service delivery models Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors and senior accountants Build a strong leadership bench capable of running day‑to‑day operations Oversee hiring, training, performance management, and accountability Foster a culture of clarity, accuracy, responsiveness, and ownership Guide and review the month‑end close process Ensure financial statements are accurate, consistent, and actionable Troubleshoot complex accounting issues and support senior staff Maintain high reporting standards across a multi‑client environment Improve and document accounting workflows and SOPs Evaluate and implement technology, automation, and AI‑enabled tools Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives Communicate financial results clearly to non‑accounting stakeholders Translate financial statements and KPIs into practical insights Step in on complex client situations or escalations when needed Support staff with client communication during close cycles Partner with onboarding teams to ensure clean, accurate client setups Oversee cleanup and transition from onboarding to ongoing support Ensure consistency and quality as new clients are added Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field 6+ years of experience in public accounting or outsourced accounting Experience leading teams in a multi‑client or CAS environment Strong knowledge of financial reporting and month‑end best practices Proven ability to troubleshoot accounting issues and guide others Comfortable working in a fully remote, cloud‑based environment CPA Experience in a scaling or high‑growth firm Familiarity with cloud accounting platforms and payroll systems Experience leading distributed or remote teams Background supporting multi‑location or multi‑unit businesses Pay range and compensation package 20 days PTO Health insurance 401(k) Remote‑first environment with flexibility and autonomy This is an opportunity for an accounting leader who wants ownership, growth, and the ability to shape a department—not just manage one.
