About the Position

Description: This position involves working in a step-down unit with a focus on clinical decision-making. The unit caters to a variety of diagnoses and promotes enhanced patient throughput from the emergency department. Patient care and safety are of utmost priority. Responsibilities include completing admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders. The patient-to-nurse ratio is generally 1:5 for step-down and 1:6 for medical-surgical patients. The goal is to provide high-quality nursing care while ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families. Preferred applicants will have recent experience in medical-surgical, telemetry, and step-down nursing. Charge nurse experience or a willingness to take on leadership responsibilities is appreciated. Minimal bedside procedures are performed in this unit. Staffing typically includes 1-2 CNAs based on patient volume. The documentation system used is Cerner. Floating to other units within the skill set is expected. This opportunity includes potential additional roles such as telemetry and ED transporter positions for interested nurses. Successful candidates are expected to have excellent teamwork skills and the ability to adapt to various patient needs.
