Description:
The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor and treat simple to complex conditions, defects, and/or diseases without surgery.
This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology.
The role is also suitable for experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline.
Responsibilities include assisting Providers in performing a variety of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.
Procedures may include cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management.
Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and/or invasive procedures.
Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centered care.
Assists in preparing patients for procedures while providing comfort.
Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures.
Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
Collaborates with team members to provide exceptional patient care.
Conducts post-testing quality reviews to ensure all required elements are completed and documented according to departmental and accreditation standards.
Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system.
Enters technical data/findings and prepares studies for reporting by the physician.
Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines.
Assists with quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement tasks as requested.
Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
May support academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.
Assists with onboarding of new team members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required skills include knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.
Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology related to specialty imaging procedures.
Demonstrates skill in performing, post-processing, analyzing, and annotating study data or procedure documentation.
Applies knowledge of sterile fields, ensuring a safe environment for patients.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the populations served.
Knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards is required.
Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments is necessary.
Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.
Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others is critical.
Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
Must be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs.
Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes is essential.
