CANHR Research Coordinator

Your experience working with Alaska Native communities gives you a grounded understanding of their strengths, diversity, and health priorities, and you approach that work with respect and cultural awareness. Our ideal candidate has experience engaging Alaska Native communities in health research. This candidate is knowledgeable about the uniqueness of Alaska Native people, cultures and communities and has knowledge of health status and solutions for improving Alaska Native well‑being. You thrive in organized, fast‑moving environments where multiple milestones need to be met, and you’re comfortable managing timelines while collaborating with a team. It is also critical for the candidate to manage meeting multiple milestones over a time limited period of performance. This will require time management skills and the ability to work under a timeline and as part of a team. You bring the technical know‑how to collect, organize, and analyze information responsibly, including a solid understanding of ethics and human‑subjects considerations in cross‑cultural research. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities who CANHR serves. This candidate would also possess research skills and have demonstrated abilities in research such as interviewing skills, survey skills and data management skills. They will have the ability to establish clear goals and expectations and to continuously track and measure outcomes in meeting those goals and expectations. Having strong written and verbal communication skills and cross‑cultural communication skills is critical in this position. The candidate should also have some administrative experience and some experience with the management of grants. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, sociology, social work, counseling, anthropology, education, psychiatric nursing, or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree and two years research experience at the postgraduate level in a field relevant to the research (e.g., science, math, business), or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Position Details This position is located on the Troth Yeddah campus in Fairbanks, and flexible on‑site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full‑time, exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
