Staff Accountant

The staff accountant supports finance in daily accounting operations, budgeting, reporting, and compliance for government-funded programs. Ensures accurate financial processing, strong internal controls, and timely reporting. Key Responsibilities Support government contract accounting: budgets, financial reports, vouchers, and expense justification for drawdowns. Assist with monthly close, journal entries, and financial reporting. Process bi-weekly payroll and related payroll tasks. Record Accounts Receivable and daily banking transactions. Support Accounts Payable: update AP, issue payments, and cut checks. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and schedules. Prepare financial reports for funders and assist with compliance requirements. Maintain GAAP compliance and stay current on federal and NY State accounting policies. Provide financial analysis and ensure adherence to internal controls. Collaborate with Finance team and support staff across the organization. Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail. Minimum Qualifications 2-3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit preferred. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Strong financial analysis and advanced Excel skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines. Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
