Senior HR Generalist

Core Tree Care is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist. This person will serve as a trusted, hands-on HR partner who provides broad support across the employee lifecycle while helping leaders solve practical people and business challenges. Initially, this position will learn the Company's operations, workforce, policies, systems, and HR practices while supporting the existing HR function. As the organization grows, the role is expected to become the primary HR contact for a new business entity, with continued guidance and partnership from the Vice President of Human Resources.

This role is well suited for an experienced generalist or business partner who is comfortable moving between day-to-day employee support and higher-level projects. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, work independently when needed, build credibility with field and corporate leaders, and know when to elevate complex or higher-risk matters.

Key Responsibilities:

· Serve as a responsive and knowledgeable HR resource to employees, supervisors, and leaders on policies, workplace expectations, employee relations, and general HR matters.

· Learn the Company's existing HR processes, systems, operating structure, and workforce needs, then help improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability.

· Develop into the primary HR point of contact for a new business entity and coordinate its HR needs with the Vice President of Human Resources and other shared-service partners.

· Provide practical coaching and guidance to leaders on performance management, attendance, conduct, conflict resolution, corrective action, and employee engagement.

· Conduct or support prompt, fair, and well-documented workplace investigations; identify issues requiring escalation and recommend appropriate next steps.

· Support recruiting and workforce planning, including job descriptions, candidate selection, offers, onboarding, orientation, and hiring-process coordination.

· Coordinate employee changes and lifecycle activities, including transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves, accommodations, separations, and offboarding.

· Partner with payroll, benefits, safety, operations, and administrative teams to resolve employee issues and maintain accurate, timely information.

· Support leave-of-absence and workplace-accommodation processes in coordination with the Vice President of Human Resources and external partners, as appropriate.

· Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential employee records and support HR reporting, audits, compliance activities, and required notices.

· Assist with interpretation and administration of Company policies, applicable labor agreements, and established practices; coordinate union-related matters with HR leadership and operations.

· Build productive relationships with operational leaders and field employees through regular communication, site visits, and practical follow-through.

· Lead or contribute to HR projects such as new-entity startup, policy implementation, system/process changes, training, compliance initiatives, and organizational growth efforts.

· Identify recurring workforce or process issues, evaluate options, and carry solutions from recommendation through implementation.

· Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience.

· At least five years of progressive, broad-based human resources experience, including experience as an HR Generalist, Senior HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or similar role.

· Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency required.

· Experience working in a midsize organization where HR professionals manage a wide range of responsibilities and operate with limited day-to-day supervision.

· Demonstrated experience advising managers, addressing employee relations matters, applying policies consistently, and managing sensitive information with discretion.

· Working knowledge of core HR practices, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, leaves and accommodations, benefits and payroll coordination, recordkeeping, and employment compliance.

· Strong project ownership, organization, follow-through, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to travel periodically to Company locations and worksites and to adjust the schedule when business needs require.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Human resources experience in traffic control, construction, utilities, vegetation management, field services, or another operationally intensive industry.

· Experience supporting a union-represented workforce and working with collective bargaining agreements, union representatives, grievances, or labor-management matters.

· Experience helping establish HR operations for a new business unit, entity, location, or rapidly growing workforce.
