Who we are:
For over 50 years, Duane Dean Behavioral Health Center, a 501C-3 not-for-profit organization, has been providing substance use treatment, intervention and prevention services to adults who reside in Kankakee and Iroquois counties throughout east-central Illinois. Working in collaboration with our management organization, Rincon Family Services, since 2017, we have expanded our services to include violence intervention, workforce development, mental health and welcome center services.
Position Description – What the Role Entails:
This position serves as the Medical Director and physician for the Substance Use programs within Duane Dean Behavioral Health Center. This position works with the leadership of the organization to review and update relevant policies and procedures, provide consultation and oversight of any additional medical providers, especially those with prescription privileges. This position is also responsible for conducting physicals, admissions and monitoring for clients of ASAM level 1 and 2 medication assisted recovery (MAR) programs, for medications including but not limited to methadone and suboxone. This includes meeting with clients for monitoring medication adherence, stabilization, treatment plan confirmation and assisting in case staffing, quality assurance and providing in-service trainings as needed.

Areas of Accountability - What you will be doing:
Clinical
- Following state and federal requirements for Medication Assisted Recovery services, provide and document physicals for patients to ensure appropriateness for admission, readmission and continued placement.
- Within state and federal guidelines, provide and document prescriptions and dose adjustments for MAR medications, including but not limited to suboxone and methadone.
- Based on assessment contents, confirm diagnosis and program placement.
- Review and confirm treatment and continuing stay reviews for patients within our programs.
- Meet with patients for medication monitoring and dose adjustments as needed.
- Working with the clinical team, and per federal and state regulations, determine if patients are eligible for unsupervised take-home dosages.
- Order and document lab requests for patient monitoring.
- Participate in case staffing to ensure collaborative care.
Leadership and Accountability
- As Medical Director, provide guidance and feedback on medical processes and procedures. Review and update policies and procedures related to our MAR programs as needed. All policy and procedures related to medication must be approved by the Medical Director, while all policy changes require board approval after the Medical Director.
- Provide documented supervision and support to other medical prescribing professionals working within the MAR program.

The Knowledge and Expertise that Matters Most - What you bring to the Role:
- Up-to-date knowledge and awareness of state and federal regulations related to Methadone and all MAR programming.
- Experience with CARF accreditation as it relates to Opioid Programs.
Position Qualifications – What is required to Perform the Role:
- Licensed physician with experience in opioid treatment.
- If not considered competent in the specialty, willingness to create and follow a plan to obtain competence within twelve months to include continuing education in addiction medicine and monitoring.
- Willingness to obtain and provide liability insurance for your work with the agency.
- Use of NPI and/or license number(s) for billing for appropriate services rendered.
- Cleared to bill Medicaid and Medicare with DEA license for appropriate MAR prescriptions.

Scheduling:
Medical Director’s is needed at least 3 hours a week while the clinic is open. Consultant is expected to work with Director of Substance Use regarding specific availability, which should be standardized every week. Telehealth hours may be available and should be planned with the supervisor.
Hours of operation:
7:30am to 3pm Monday thru Friday
