  • Assist in the interoperability certification process, including coordination with the Air Force Command and Control Integration Center for program clearance into Air Force System Operability Test and Joint Interoperability Test Command testing.
  • Assist in performing engineering tasks in support of development activities, including requirements definition, design, integration, test, and transition to operations; provide assistance with the Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System requirements management tool.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of avionics engineering in support of avionics subsystem definition, development, integration, verification methods, ICD review, sustainment, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and model-based systems engineering.
  • Perform analyses, requirements analyses, and system capacity analyses; investigate alternative solutions and architecture trade-offs; make assessments; support operations concept development; and document results.
  • Support the review and development of draft systems engineering documents in support of milestone reviews and events.
  • Work with other Government organizations, the prime contractor, and subcontractors to support technical information exchange and open communication on security A&A, frequency management certification, and interoperability certification.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, TIMs, technical reviews, and ICWG meetings; support entrance and exit criteria, agenda development, content review, action item resolution, and coordination of technical review results.
  • Support hardware/software development and related system ground and flight test activities, including hardware-in-the-loop, subsystem integration labs, DT&E, and IO&TE activities.
  • Support airworthiness directives and assist in platform approval and certification; utilize current MIL-HDBK-516 Airworthiness Certification Criteria to determine applicable requirements and work with other agencies to achieve the desired level of certification.
  • Apply relevant knowledge of CJCSI 6212.01F, Net Ready Key Performance Parameters, and technical requirements associated with preparation of the ISP.
  • Advice and assistance in engineering analysis necessary to achieve CCA statutory compliance by identifying information needs, net-centric, interoperability, and supportability issues, and assessing conformance to DoD Chief Information Officer information policy and goals.
  • Explore information-related acquisition program needs and operational and functional capabilities delivered or supported by the program within the warfighting enterprise.
  • Advise and assist with documenting, identifying, and resolving potential information support implementation issues and risks that could limit or restrict operational employment of the program in accordance with the defined capability.
  • Apply an understanding of DoD, Air Force, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to assist in improving performance and sustainability of existing and future Air Force and joint service weapon systems.
  • Assist in translating AFGSC and ACC requirements into weapon system requirements used to design, develop, fabricate, test, and evaluate weapon systems, subsystems, and equipment for fielding and deployment.
  • Assist with development of requirements and technology needs into action plans and policies necessary to improve and retain manufacturing, operations, re-manufacturing, and demilitarization/disposal of weapon system capabilities within the USAF.
  • Assist technical and mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements, develop system concepts, perform technological and trade-off assessments of proposed designs or modifications, and support materiel solution analyses leading up to design reviews.
  • Provide rapid response engineering support through problem identification, impact assessment, and development of corrective actions for critical supportability problems.
  • Support development of draft documentation and presentation materials as requested or necessitated by programmatic limits based on cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Assist in producing or reviewing technical evaluations/plans; engineering studies, reports, and analyses; acquisition strategies/plans; ICD; CDD; CONOPS; CPD; system requirements documents; system specifications; RFPs; SEP; TEMP; ISP; PPP; cybersecurity plans; security authorization package documentation; CCA compliance documentation; and other program, technical, and weapon system contractor-produced artifacts as required.
  • Assist in the development and collection of technical data and inputs for staff summary packages and executive briefings supporting coordination and signature of milestone approval documentation.
  • Support project team meetings, working groups, and reviews, including SRR, System Functional Review, PDR, CDR, Incremental Design Review, TRR, System Verification Review, TCM, TIMs, FCA, PCA, PRR, PMR, and other applicable meetings, working groups, and reviews.
  • Analyze equipment and software deficiencies, recommend corrections, and develop, integrate, and test deficiency solutions.
  • Assist the Government in engineering evaluation of prime and subcontractor recommendations for operational and support issues, including ACSNs, ECPs, CCPs, FAA bulletins, modification proposals, DMSMS, program risk, and related documents.
  • Perform an advisory role for program source selections on engineering-related requirements, as required.
  • Support development and evaluation of IMP, IMS, and Systems Engineering Detail Schedule engineering cost estimates.
  • Support the system safety engineering program, including mishap risk assessments; evaluation of contractor safety proposals and safety analyses; evaluation of safety concerns; and assistance with resolution of high-priority safety issues.
  • Support disciplined engineering activities to assure Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) for all products and assist with establishing, implementing, and adhering to LCSE processes to ensure OSS&E compliance is achieved and maintained.
  • Assist the Air Force in reviewing and updating OSS&E baseline documentation, identifying OSS&E elements, reporting OSS&E metrics, and coordinating with other organizations to maintain continued OSS&E compliance.
  • Assist in ascertaining SEP implementation status throughout program operations and notify the Air Force of shortfalls or gaps requiring corrective action.
  • Apply an understanding of MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria to aircraft systems and subsystems, support Air Force Integrity Programs, assist in maintaining and updating the critical safety item list, and monitor airworthiness certification for B-2 Division aircraft.
